HISTORY OF WCC

Wausau Child Care began providing care for children in 1968 with 13 children. Today, Wausau Child Care has three facilities caring for our Infant/Toddler and Preschool Programs in addition to five School Age Program locations caring for your elementary school aged children conveniently located in elementary schools in the Wausau School District. At full capacity, we are licensed for over 400 children ages 6 weeks through 12 years.

STAFF QUALIFICATIONS

Our teaching staff is  trained in Early Childhood Education. In addition, our teachers undergo training in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Prevention and Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) Prevention. Once a year teachers attend Child Abuse & Neglect training and every two years their CPR and Pediatric First Aid training is renewed.

Continuing their education in childcare techniques, procedures and training is a requirement for membership in The Registry, Wisconsin's recognition system for the Childhood Care and Education Profession. The Registry acknowledges and highlights the training, experience and professionalism that is vital to quality child care. The Registry awards a certificate verifying that individuals have met all State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services entry level and continuing education requirements. Wausau Child Care teachers are all members of The Registry
